FHM catches up with Barbara Zatler ahead of her FHM blog

We introduced you to Barbara Zatler recently. Barbara is here as our blogging buddy, here to offer advice on getting into modelling and dishing the dirt on the behind the scenes goings on of the modelling world. Got any questions, email her and over the next few entries, she'll do what she can to answer them. Please just keep them reasonably clean. To give you a taster, here's what she had to say when FHM caught up with her recently. Click the thumbnails throughout the text for larger pics.

You’re a successful model in Europe. Have you ever considered moving over to the US/LA where other playmates/models base themselves?

I did live there for a little while, but my experience of LA was not so good. I didn’t like it so much because people were too aggressive. I think the competition gets to their heads! It wasn’t nice so I came home to live in Denmark. That’s my base. I still work in LA, but I always come back to Denmark

Is the life of a model a very glamorous one?

It’s not as glamorous as it looks. It’s actually a lot of hard work, and there are a lot of downsides. It can be very stressful: always being scrutinised. There’s the weight thing and the age thing so there’s a lot of pressure on you all the time.

Wow. That's pretty brutal. But you must have been invited to a lot of cool parties. What’s the best party you've ever been to?

It has to be the Halloween party at the Playboy Mansion. It was amazing. Everyone was just there to party and have fun. No one was being judged, it was just such a great party

Did you meet any celebs?

Celebrities were around, but I don't get all excited and chase them around all the time, because that’s not cool. They are just doing their job and I am doing mine. I am a model, but that’s not who I am. I saw Jamie Foxx, but I didn’t cling on to him to try and get an autograph. I’m not that sort of girl. They just want to go out and have a good time like everybody else.

Have you or would you ever date anyone famous?

Only if there was something about them that really caught my eye, really attracted him to me. It’s all about the chemistry, not about the name.

So we have a chance. Hoorah! Have you ever met the Playboy legend, Hugh Hefner, himself?

I actually haven’t been formally introduced to him yet, but I am working on a project in the US with him, so I know I will get to meet him very soon.

We’ve seen all your gorgeous photoshoots. You obviously feel totally comfortable with your body. What’s your favourite part of your body?

My behind. My bottom is definitely my favourite part. It gets a man’s attention shall we say!

When did you start modelling?

When I was 22. A photographer approached me and asked to take some shots. But I was like, ‘I’m not a model’. But it all escalated from there.

Do you have a unique/weird skill FHM readers should know about?

Well, I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty. I’m actually pretty good with cars. If I have a problem with mine I’m not afraid to handle it myself. I’m also really good with animals and again I’m not afraid to get close to them. I’m actually working on a campaign at the moment to eliminate abuse to animals. Can you believe it’s still legal to have sex with animals in Denmark?!

Woah. That’s pretty shocking

I know. It’s disgusting! It’s not right to have sex with your dog.

No absolutely not...anyway, moving on...what’s your favourite really indulgent snack?

I try to eat healthy, but I do like McDonalds. And I do drink a lot of Coke - cans not bottles - because it just tastes better out of a can.

Have you ever had to dress up like a Viking? You know, because you’re Danish.

Actually I have. I did a shoot for Slovenian Playboy, where I had to dress up like Zena, with a sword and the whole Viking inspired outfit. That was quite fun!

That sounds tremendous. Where can we find those pics?

They’re all on my website (here), so feel free to have a look.

Oh we will… What’s the worst chat-up line you’ve ever heard?

Some guy came up to me once and said “You have great tits, can I touch them?”

That sounds kind of creepy. Did it work?

Definitely not.

Who do you think should win FHM 100 sexiest contest (apart from yourself of course!)

Well I think, Jessica Alba is absolutely stunning. Whatever she’s doing she always looks amazing. Naturally beautiful, she doesn’t feel the need to be done up all the time. The total opposite of the ‘porn star’ look!

And finally…What’s your best tip for an aspiring model?

Your personality is the most important thing of all. No one will work with you, if you don’t have a personality or if you’re a diva. You need to be humble and polite, likeable. Only work with good photographers and just try and build up a good portfolio and work hard. Without hard work you will never make it in the business.

Don't forget to email your questions to Barbara. Anything within reason.
